Mould testing

Mould Air Quality Testing

Air testing identifies mould spores in the indoor environment and compares indoor readings to outdoor baseline levels. A good background if mould is suspected.

Why it matters

Testing matters for your family

Mould isn’t just unsightly: certain species produce mycotoxins that can affect indoor air quality. Children, elderly family members, and those with respiratory conditions are particularly sensitive.

Professional air quality testing measures actual spore counts and identifies species present, giving you facts rather than guesswork.

When to test

  • After water damage from flooding, leaks, or burst pipes
  • Persistent musty odours you can’t locate
  • Visible mould growth beyond a small surface area
  • Family members experiencing unexplained allergies, asthma flare-ups, or respiratory issues
  • Before or after purchasing a home
  • Post-remediation verification that mould removal was successful

What’s included

  • Indoor air samples collected with calibrated equipment
  • An outdoor baseline sample for comparison
  • Analysis by an accredited laboratory
  • A clear report explaining what was found, what it means, and recommended next steps

FAQ

Common questions

Have a question that isn’t here? Call 905 638 4307 or send us a message.

When should I test the air for mould?

After water damage, when there is a musty odour you can’t locate, when mould is visible beyond a small area, when family members have unexplained allergy or asthma symptoms, before or after buying a home, and after remediation to verify that it worked.

Why compare indoor and outdoor air?

Mould spores are always present outdoors. Comparing indoor readings to an outdoor baseline shows whether the indoor environment is different from what you would normally expect.

Is this the same as a DIY test kit?

No. All samples are analyzed by an accredited laboratory, not a DIY kit.

What if mould is visible?

We can also collect physical samples to identify the specific species with mould bulk testing, or carry out a full mould assessment.
